Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Demons vs. Angels

Another book that was released in 2011 that is slowly gaining more popular appeal is called Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. The main character Karou is a girl who runs errands for a demon “family”. She has no idea who her real family is and trying to learn more about herself. She ends up getting caught in a war between the demons and angels. This war has been going on for centuries and doesn’t seem like the end is near. The war started when the demons wanted to be freed from the angels’ control. Both groups hate one another for the differences they posses. At first this may sound like a far fetch idea that this could happen, but it has already happened. In our lives we have started wars against others just because they’re different. America considered them as the policing force of the world trying to change others for the “better”. I know in some parts of the world they do need our help. However if everyone in a certain country agrees with their way of life who are we to judge? In the book, the demons rebel against the angels trying to get their freedom to do what they want. The angels thought they were helping the demons by making them more like them. Both sides believe each other is wrong. When the book ends there is no end to the war. It is still going on. (There is a sequel coming out for this book.) People believe the ones who will win will have the best beliefs. In the end isn’t it best to let others live the way they want. Is it worth all those lives that will be lost in the end? Is killing each other the best way to prove your point? I guess that is your own opinion.
